Common interfaces for car wipers

2024-06-24

When disassembling, you need to push the wiper to the root of the wiper arm first, and then pull it out in the opposite direction after it is separated from the wiper arm interface. This action requires a more delicate technique. Before pulling it out, you need to rotate the movable wiper strip, otherwise it will be blocked when it is pulled out.

Common interfaces of car wipers

U-shaped car wiper interface

The wiper arm of this interface is a traditional style with strong uniformity. As long as the wiper you buy is a U-shaped mouth, it can be installed, but the replacement method of this wiper is relatively old today, and the installation method is not so user-friendly. This type of wiper is common in mid- and low-end models, mainly with bone wipers.

It should be noted here that many wipers will be very tight when disassembling. At this time, we should not use too much force, otherwise it is easy to hurt the wiper interface and our hands.

Plug-in car wiper interface

Plug-in car wiper style ①

This wiper interface is to insert the wiper directly into the wiper arm and lock it with a locking block. The method to identify this type of interface is very simple. Just observe whether there is a "small button" on the wiper arm. When replacing, we use one hand to press the small button on the wiper arm to the bottom, so that the wiper can move, and the other hand pulls the wiper out to remove the wiper. It is even simpler when installing. Just insert the new wiper directly into the wiper arm.

The fixing method of this type of wiper is similar to the previous one, but the locking button is not on the top of the wiper arm, but on both sides. When disassembling, one hand needs to press the locking buttons on both sides of the wiper at the same time, and the other hand pulls the wiper out. However, this structure will be awkward when installed. Do not use too much force, otherwise the wiper interface will be damaged.

The above two types of wiper arm interface are mostly found in Japanese, Korean and American cars.

This type of wiper is easy to identify from the appearance. The connection between the wiper arm and the wiper seems to be two layers falling together. I personally think this type of wiper is easy to replace. After the wiper arm is erected, rotate the wiper to a state perpendicular to the wiper arm, and then the wiper can be removed from the wiper arm without touching any locking device. This type of wiper arm often appears on European models, and the Focus uses this type of wiper arm.
